Mustard with Turmeric (Curcuma longa)

You don’t know how easy it is to produce your own mustard? Are you interested? Then read on.

I was used to eat  mustard bought from the grocery shop. Until the day I studied the ingredients and I discovered that it contains sugar. Why is there sugar in the mustard? I didn’t like this, and from that moment I started to make my own mustard. My favorite recipe is this one:

You need:
60 g mustard seeds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1 lemon
1 teaspoon turmeric (curcuma longa)
some salt.

Soak the mustard-  and the sunflowerseeds in a bowl of water over the night. Then empty it into a sieve and rinse well with plenty of water. Put the grains and seeds together with the juice of a squeezed lemon, a teaspoon of turmeric and some salt into a cup and mash them with a strong bar mixer. Your sugarfree mustard is ready.

The Tumeric plant (latin curcuma longa) is a member of the ginger family.
